As a first timer, I was really looking for a retreat that would feel authentic, safe and supportive. I’m grateful to have found La Vida Divine when I did. As a Black woman, I was especially drawn to this retreat because it’s run by two women of color who are intentional about cultivating a healing space for some of the most marginalized communities. Jhoselyn, Gaddy, Savio, Jaime and the rest of the team have created a space that feels like you’re healing with family.
My highlights:
– the intimate size of the retreats (my retreat was only 2 people, max I think is 6) makes it feel less like it’s a business and more like healing with a community highly knowledgeable on traditional medicines and healing rituals. Savio, the shaman, brings with him many years of experience and provides so much necessary guidance before, during and after ceremonies. Jhoselyn sat with us before our first ceremony, explained how ceremony would work and shared her wisdom and learnings from her years of working with the medicine. I found that to be extremely helpful in calming my nerves before my first ceremony.
– As an introvert, I like my alone time. Both Gaddy and Jhoselyn were so great at balancing being present for me and allowing me to do me. We had movement classes, integration sessions and plenty of downtime if you want to explore the city.
– the food was delicious and the accommodations were great
– the choza were ceremony takes place is beautiful, situated right on the river so you can hear the water during ceremonies which brought a calming energy.
I truly cannot wait to return and bring people back with me.
